SEND and Inclusion
A pupil has special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) if they have a learning difficulty or disability that calls for special educational provision, that is, provision greater than or additional to that normally available to pupils of the same age.
We want children to thrive intellectually, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially, and recognise that some children face greater obstacles to achievement and may need special consideration.
At JKPS, we pride ourselves on the provision of an inclusive curriculum and a stimulating school environment that enables all to thrive. It is the shared responsibility of everyone in the school to ensure that every child has access to the curriculum and to ensure that every child’s needs are met.
What if I have concerns about my child?
If you tell us that you think your child has a SEND, we will discuss this with you and investigate. We will share with you what we find, and together agree what we will do next and explore what you can do to help your child.
What happens if my child does have a SEND?
The school will follow a graduated approach to your child’s learning. It will follow the sequence of Assess, Plan, Do, Review. This way we can constantly make sure that the school is meeting your child’s needs.
