The ability to learn outdoors provides an invaluable balance to classroom activities. JKPS is fortunate in being surrounded by a beautiful, mature garden, with many unusual trees, a vegetable patch with a pond, and a wilderness area. In this mixed environment our pupils, from Reception upwards, can safely get their hands dirty and explore the natural world around them. Children harvest the produce from our garden, which is then prepared in the school’s kitchen so they can taste the fruits of their labours.
The amazing and consistent support of the Friends of JKPS and parent volunteers has added all-weather protection for the grass and a Trim Trail, and has allowed us to increase the usable space so that all our pupils have plenty of opportunity to burn off some energy too.
